From a gathering of 15 guides in 1968 to a 1,600-member institute recognised worldwide.

1966

Tourism Regulations Introduced

Tourism regulations introduced under the Ceylon Tourist Board Act, laying the legal foundation for the guiding profession.

1968

The Association is Formed

The first batch of Tourist Guide Lecturers formed the Tourist Guide Lecturers' Association with 15 members.

1968

Founder Leadership

First President — Mr. Ernest Munasinghe. First Secretary — Mr. Reggie Perera.

1986

Official Registration

Registered as the National Tourist Guide Lecturers' Association of Sri Lanka (NTGLASL).

1987–1995

Taj Samudra Complex

Permanent office operated within the Taj Samudra Hotel complex.

2007

SLINTGL is Established

Officially registered as the Sri Lanka Institute of National Tourist Guide Lecturers (SLINTGL).

2009

Headquarters Completed

Construction of the present four-storied headquarters completed at 35/37, Temple Road, Colombo 10.
